Using Spy-da plugins on an Apple Silicon Mac

Every Spy-da plugin is a Universal build: one installer that runs natively on both Intel Macs and Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and later). There's no need to open Logic using Rosetta.

If you already run Logic using Rosetta for other plugins, Spy-da plugins load there too.

macOS warns that the installer can't be opened

Our installers aren't notarised by Apple yet, so macOS asks before running them the first time.

  • macOS 15 Sequoia or later: click Done, then open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.
  • macOS 14 Sonoma or earlier: right-click the installer, choose Open, then click Open again.

Some products are Audio Unit only

Spy-da Pitch, Spy-da 432, Spy-da Mash Up and Spy-da Rack don't come as VST3, so they won't load in hosts that don't support Audio Units, such as Cubase, Nuendo and Bitwig Studio.

By design

Spy-da Rack can only load instruments that match how Logic is running

When Logic runs natively on Apple Silicon, Rack can only load instruments that support Apple Silicon. To use Intel-only instruments inside Rack, open Logic using Rosetta. Each Mac only sees its own installed instruments, and you need your own licences for them.

Vocal Tuner Graph mode needs ARA

Graph mode uses ARA 2, the same link Melodyne uses. It works in Logic Pro X 10.4.2 and later. In hosts without ARA 2, use Auto mode or the standalone app.
